Richard Fletcher comprises two companies. They have a waste recycling yard in Sheffield, where they need to dispose of and recycle general waste, hazardous waste, and recyclables. The second yard is based in Chesterfield, which handles the buying and selling of scrap metal from both frequent suppliers, and casual customers often supplying end of life vehicles. FRED had been recommended by a director of the company who had previously used the system with great success at another yard.

Donna Boddison (Office Manager) was charged with the task of making the decision of which system to go for. She told us “I reviewed all the products available and decided FRED answered all our questions in an easy to use wrapper,” she added, “We used to take a week to input the waste invoices, now it takes us 10 minutes to produce them all. In fact it takes longer to put them in the envelopes!” Information stored in FRED is used to produce environmental statistics on a regular basis, which further underlines the importance of the information provided. The Schedule system module is integral to Richard Fletcher, as it handles every single transaction that occurs on a daily basis for the waste site.“We are now able to monitor and schedule transport from the weighbridge allowing them to do the job efficiently.”

Riverdale is a paper processing and security shredding company, which handles the destruction of important documents. Documents are shredded by the company on site and a certificate of destructions is produced. The Schedule system is far and away the most important part of the day to day running of Riverdale. Every collection requires a single transfer note, and FRED is able to produce the 50/60 required each day with ease.

FRED has not only organised collections and accelerated the entire process from start to finish, but it has aided efficiency and allowed expansion for Riverdale into its new facility in Durham. Iain Riccalton (Operations Manager) explained, “The opportunity arose for us to expand by acquisition of the former Severnside site in Thornely, Durham. FRED allowed us to quickly deploy our systems at the new site and begin monitoring and controlling the business activities.”

A traditional scrap metal merchant, Sunderland Metal simply buy and sell scrap metal. Their most used facet of FRED is the gross tare module; using gross tare ensures quick and accurate processing of traffic in and out of the yard. Cash transactions are managed with ease. FRED has made life at Sunderland Metal much easier by simply removing the need to do everything by hand.
